Snug-a-licious visits Sydney for the Kids in Style Trade show

Posted on 05 March 2013

I have just come back from Australia’s leading children’s wear trade show, Kids in Style in Sydney. It was a very hectic few days, and not without its challenges. The first not insignificant challenge was to create an exciting and inspiring Snug-a-licious stand with only 20kg Qantas baggage allowance. I won’t go into specifics here, but let’s just say that without a very understanding customs official we may not have made it. In the end, the stand looked fantastic, and most importantly the Snug-a-licioius range was showcased for all of Sydney to see.

I was very keen to introduce Snug-a-licious to the Sydney market because our high-content Bamboo range is perfect all-season wear for the tropical and sub-tropical Australian climate.  Our sleepwear and loungewear make comfortable and effective insulating under layers in the winter, and act as cool, temperature regulating outerwear in the summer.

During the show I met up with many old friends, and met lots of new ones. In particular Kristina from Bambino Box stopped by our stand to say hi. We had supplied Bambino Box with samples to send out as part of our on going market research, and the response has been amazing. In particular our products scored highly on the super-soft fabric and the designs and we were rated in the top three subscriber favourites. Thank you everyone for comments such as “The fabric is so comfy and doesn’t irritate my baby’s skin” (Lee, SA) and “Soft, well-made and oh so adorable” (Kylie, NSW).

The other great thing about trade shows is that we get to look around at what is trending in the kids’ market. Whilst Snug-a-licious is all about quality, softness and functionality and not high end fashion, we want to make sure that our ranges appeal to our retailers and of course our customers. So watch this space for new designs, colours and sizes later in 2013.

The nine hour flight, the achy feet, the rack that took 2 hours to screw together, the impasse with customs and the fact that I left my little man in HK, were all worth it in the end.

Our most frequently asked question at the show was “Do they come in adult sizes?” The answer is not at the moment, but we will certainly be extending our range so little ones can stay Snug-a-licious until they are at least 8!
It’s been a busy couple of months for Snug-a-licious. As we continue to grow from strength to strength I want to say thank you to all of our customers and business partners for continuing to support our Snug-a-licious ventures. Also a big thank you Australia, we will be back very soon.
